Code of Conduct for The Little Mermaid JRPlease read through the following information and sign where indicated.THERE ARE NO SMALL PARTS. Everyone is essential to this production. We do not have “stars”. Nosingle student is more important than any other student. We want to create an ensemble as well as amemorable, positive experience for all. We expect parents to model this behavior and encourage theirchild to create a positive atmosphere.RESPECT OTHERS. It is expected that all students be respectful, polite, humble and truthful to theirfellow cast mates, directors, crew and parent volunteers.Negative attitudes, gossip, bullying, defiance, foul language, eye rolling, or other forms of disrespect willnot be tolerated. This includes and form of social media (ie Instagram, snapchat, group texts etc.) Thisis grounds for dismissal from the production.RESPECT FOR OUR SPACE AND MATERIALS. Our rehearsal spaces, dressing rooms, and theatre need tobe respected. Please do not leave garbage or your belongings. We are very fortunate to havewonderful costumes and props. Treat them with respect. Costumes are to be hung up or placed in yourbin. Do NOT touch anyone else’s props!! **If Cast you may be asked to purchase dance shoes, leotard,and proper undergarments for costume**FOLLOWING DIRECTION. Full participation and attention is required from every actor and crewmember.WE have a limited number of rehearsal time. Lines, songs, and dances must be memorized in a timelymanner. Being on time and ready for rehearsal/performance is a must. There are no CELL PHONESallowed in rehearsals or performances. NO FOOD OR GUM is allowed in the theatre or the dressingrooms. All snacks need to be eaten prior to rehearsal. Water bottles are allowed and highly encouraged!REHEARSAL SCHEDULES will be given our and posted on the drama website. Character Descriptions for The Little Mermaid JrArielAriel, the heroine of our story, is a little mermaid who longs to be human. She is a strong singer and dynamicperformer. Ariel has some beautiful solos but must be able to convey meaning through gesture once she loses hervoice.Gender: FemaleVocal range top: Eb5Vocal range bottom: Bb3Prince EricPrince Eric is the adventurous prince who captures Ariel's heart. Look for a charming performer with a sensitivenature. Prince Eric has a few small solos, but a strong actor in needed for this role.Gender: MaleVocal range top: D5Vocal range bottom: B3SebastianSebastian is the meticulous and anxious crab who tries to keep Ariel safe while getting to lead some of the mostmemorable songs in the show! Looking for a strong singer who can also handle Sebastian's emotional range.Sebastian can be played by a boy or girl.Gender: AnyVocal range top: D5Vocal range bottom: A3FlounderFlounder is Ariel's sincere and sensitive best friend who is loyal to the end. This spunky fish also has a show-stoppingsolo in "She's in Love." Flounder can be cast with a girl or a boy.Gender: AnyVocal range top: Db5Vocal range bottom: G3King TritonKING TRITON rules the sea and is a force to be reckoned with. This non-singer needs to command the stage as astrong leader but also show the tenderness of a parent.Gender: MaleMersistersThe Mersisters (Aquata, Andrina, Arista, Atina, Adella, Allana) are Ariel's siblings and full of personality and sass.These are great roles to for talented singers and dancers who can create and play six distinctive characters.Gender: FemaleVocal range top: G5Vocal range bottom: G37

UrsulaUrsula is the manipulative sea witch who tries to overthrow King Triton. She is cunning and devious and will stop atnothing to get what she wants. Looking for a performer who can bring out this villain's humor while finding texturein Ursula's complexity. Ursula's songs can be challenging, so this actor needs to be very comfortable with solos!Gender: FemaleVocal range top: C#5Vocal range bottom: F3Ursula’s Dark Sea Creature ChorusThe dark sea creatures are extensions of Ursula, perhaps the poor unfortunate souls who are now trapped in herlair. Looking for a small group who work well together and can move as a unit.Gender: AnyVocal range top: C#5Vocal range bottom: C4Flotsam/JetsamFlotsam and Jetsam are Ursula's slippery spies. These electric eels are sinister and sneaky, so these actors need tobe underhanded and devious while still being heard on stage. Flotsam and Jetsam can be played by boys or girls.Gender: AnyVocal range top: C#5Vocal range bottom: C4ScuttleScuttle is the know-it-all seagull who serves as Ariel's expert on humans. He is funny and off-beat. While a goodsinger will rock "Human Stuff," this song can easily be spoken in rhythm. Looking for an actor with good comedictiming who is willing to have fun with Scuttle's eccentricities.Gender: AnyVocal range top: E5Vocal range bottom: B3GullsThe Gulls are Scuttle's flock of zany "back-up singers" who help explain human stuff to Ariel. These gulls will have agreat feature role in the show!Gender: AnyVocal range top: G5Vocal range bottom: B3GrimsbyGrimsby is Prince Eric's prim and proper valet. He is rigid in personality and constantly trying to guide Prince Erictowards the throne. While Grimsby does have some singing to do, strong acting trumps singing ability for this role.Gender: MaleVocal range top: C5Vocal range bottom: E4Chef LouisChef Louis is the over-the-top head chef in the palace.
